Our Trip Part One

We took a " we should do that sometime" vacation this past summer, well it was actually the beginning of September but I guess technically it was still summer.
Mark and I had talked for quite some time about going to the east coast.
We had each been there as children but not together or with our girls.
Walk in opportunity.
Mark's brother met a great girl and she happens to be from the east coast.
Lovely courtship, then engagement, and wedding.
Well we've always wanted to go, now we had a great reason.
That's the short version of how the trip came about.

It was a 21 hour drive from where we live.
We took some beautiful roads with gorgeous scenery,  mile after mile of beautiful forests and mountains.
We divided our trip into 2 days,
16 hours the first day and the rest the next day.
Which really didn't feel that long since we left pretty early in the morning.
First through New York State where
Kerrington bought herself a
"Oh, I always wanted one of these shirts" shirt.

Our almost destination.
We were headed to Sackville, New Brunswick.
We arrived there on Saturday afternoon, just in time to check into our hotel, get back in the van and head off to Nova Scotia to the bride's family cottage.

The cottage is located on the Northumberland Straight,
and the tide happened to be out so went down to the waters edge and explored.
That was very cool and slippery.

It was so much fun to be all together again.
We ended the night with a bon-fire and smores.
Perfect.

On Sunday Morning we got up nice and early and headed back toward Moncton to go to Hopewell Rocks.
The Bay of Fundy.
They have an amazing tide which can rise and fall over 38ft.
We chose to go at low tide so we could see the bottom of the ocean and the giant flower pots.

I think I found the sea-weed the most interesting, as I thought it was slimy.
It really wasn't, it had more of a rubbery texture and it had what looked like pea pods throughout which were filled with air.
Pretty neat.

Our feet got very, very muddy, but it was so much fun to enjoy this together.
After we finally got them clean, we jumped back in the van, ( made a pit stop at Wal-mart in Moncton for a new pair of flip-flops for Jillianne as she soaked her runners and had forgotten her other shoes out at the cottage) headed back to Sackville for the wedding rehearsal and dinner.
So much to do.
How exciting!

Stay tuned for part two of our trip.

Until next time,  Joceline
